Archetypes.The Will to Survive
Having the courage to carry after being faced with great tragedies and hardships is something mankind has had to deal with since the dawn of time. Every human at point in their lives is faced with a life or death situation in which they must muster every last morsel of will power in order to survive, it is a universal human experience. Life of Pi does a remarkable job in showing the human will to survive, Martel does this through Pi who undergoes horrific hardships like having to have to eat another human for sustenance. but these hardships only further prove that humans have no limits when trying to survive. Coming to terms with Reality A difficult task for all humans is to come to terms with where we stand in life, it is difficult to truly come to terms with reality because it is so harsh. Yann Martel's Life of Pi is no different, if anything Pi has the worst reality to come to terms with. Pi is stranded in the middle of ocean with a few rations, minimal water, nothing to protect him from the weather and not mention his entire family just died. |
